Milkid Mailkit Is for Military Children
I’m so excited to be talking about Milkid Mailkit™, a pen pal program for military children, with one of the program’s co-founders, Brunella Costagliola. Brunella and her husband Michael Gosselin created Milkid Mailkit™ to encourage and foster international friendship for military children through the art of letter writing.
The season of COVID and her own children being in front of screens more than ever with schooling going online made Brunella realize her kids’ need for more connection. Using beautiful stationery created by world-renowned creator and longtime Disney theme park designer and illustrator, Valerio Mazzoli, along with their own memories of what penpals and letter writing had meant in their lives, Milkid Mailkit™ was born.
Brunella says: “You may recognize the symbol of military kids—the dandelion. Every illustration captures the adventurous spirit, inspiring diversity, and barrier-breaking horizons of military life.”
A personalized penpal list ensures children engage with likehearted and likeminded peers, offering each other support, exclusive insight into a potential duty station, and countless fun activities that will keep them away from screens and practice the art of handwriting without even noticing! And who knows? They might even find a forever friend!
Here’s a sneak peek of some of the gorgeous stationery. The program launches in November 2021, but you can sign up now for your child to be matched with a penpal! (see below)
What a unique and amazing program. I’ll be signing up my own little granddaughter, who also happens to be a military kid. If you have military children or know one, this is a wonderful way to connect them with other children who understand their lives…and keep building their global perspective!
