Milspouse Matters Episode 23 with Judy Davis
For parents of military kids, it can be difficult to know how to help our children cope with the stresses of military life: constant changes, moves, and going through the deployment of one or both parents.
So much advice is geared towards younger children, but how do you help an older child or young adult who’s struggling? This week, Jen’s talking to Judy Davis, who shares advice for helping military kids thrive in life.
Judy, aka The Direction Diva, is a sought after motivational speaker, entrepreneur, author, and host of the Mighty Parenting Podcast. She is an expert on parenting, stress relief, and teen suicide prevention as well as an influencer in the military spouse community. Judy is passionate about providing programs and resources to families across the nation and is the CEO of DASIUM – a brand leading the way in depression, addiction and suicide prevention in teens and young adults.
With help for parents with children of any age, Judy gives practical, positive, realistic tips for what she calls foundational, trigger, and crisis strategies to help children have the tools for emotional health. As she says,
“Check in regularly with your kids to see how they’re doing emotionally. Military kids often don’t want to add any pressure to their parents.”

Judy also acknowledges the stresses and emotional toll taken on military family members and offers ideas for military spouses to take care of themselves so they can better help their families and service member spouse.
