This is an honest review written by me on behalf of Peewee App. I was provided with free credits from Peewee in order to test out the app myself!
One of the most challenging aspects of raising children in the military lifestyle for us was the distance from extended family, including our kids’ grandparents. While we did our best to visit when we could, and they visited us as they were able—even when we were stationed overseas—the aspect of being part of our kids’ daily lives was something they definitely missed out on.
Now I’m a grandmother, and our oldest son is serving in the Air Force. I’m too far away from my sweet little granddaughter! I’m always looking for ways to stay connected with her, and that’s why I was so glad to find out about the Peewee app, the app that helps families read together even when they’re apart. Whether you’re a military parent currently away from your own children or a grandparent, friend, or family member, this is a wonderful way to connect with the children in your life. PLUS, the stories and illustrations are absolutely adorable!
Once you’ve read aloud and recorded a story, in the app (more on that in a minute!), the child will receive a beautifully illustrated story with YOUR voice reading it to them.
The Peewee app is super easy to use. Simply download it from the app store, record a story with the tutorial, and send it on its way! The person on the receiving end of the story can also download the app and see it right there or you can simply send a link for them to view. Children can also request a story in the app!

It just takes a few minutes to record a story. First, you’ll record a brief video greeting to the child, then go right to reading the story as it’s laid out. The app takes you step by step through everything as you read. I can’t overemphasize how easy it is! You preview what you’ve recorded for each page before moving on, so no worries at all if you mess up. (One little note–when you start reading a page, wait for just a moment before you start speaking after you press the ‘record’ button. My phone actually gives a little vibration after I hold down the button so I know when to start. I found this out by having the beginning of some of my pages read cut off. This is easily fixed with the option to redo the page!)

Stories include old favorites like The Little Red Hen, Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Ugly Duckling, along with some modern tales. Ok, take a look at how CUTE these illustrations are!

My granddaughter has loved getting these stories from her Gigi, and I am so glad to have another way to stay connected across the miles.
Download the Peewee app for free in the App Store and receive 3 free story credits! After that, if you’d like more recordings, you have the option to purchase credits for $0.99 each or $4.99/mo. for unlimited stories. If you try out Peewee, I’d love to hear what you think!
