The Christian Milspouse Podcast Episode 5
This week, we’re talking about loneliness as a military spouse.
If you’re feeling alone due to a move, whether it’s your first time move or you’ve done it many times, feeling alone and lonely is difficult.
What about loneliness during deployment (the feeling that your spouse is unreachable)? You just want your person and nothing feels right. There can be an undercurrent of sadness, a fog over all that you do while you’re apart.
During times of loneliness, it’s important that we run to God. It’s important to remember that we were never meant to be comfortable in this world. We are made for another world! And loneliness can drive us to God, as we learn to lean on Him in ways we never would have before. You realize you have no one else to turn to.
The Bible talks a lot about loneliness. Even Jesus experienced loneliness!
Some Bible verses about being lonely:
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Psalm 139:7-10
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
James 4:8
… as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage.
Joshua 1:5-6

Are you lonely today? Look around! You might see someone else in the same boat that you are. Take a leap of faith and reach out. And when you get past this stage—because I promise you will—never forget how this felt.
