Yummy! Monster cookies are some of our family’s favorite cookies to make at Christmas time. Not only does this recipe make a huge amount of cookies, it’s easy, they freeze well, and are also great for giving away. I have memories of making these with my Nana, siblings, and cousins every year while growing up.
Monster cookies are a great recipe to make with kids, as you will need helpers for stirring. I’m not sure why they’re called ‘monster’, other than their size, plus they have nearly every conceivable cookie ingredient possible! This recipe is easily halved or cut down even farther if you don’t want so many (but I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t). And yes, it’s a pound of butter–go for it, it’s Christmas! Have fun and happy cookie eating!
Monster Cookies (makes 8 dozen)
2 pounds brown sugar
4 cups white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
8 teaspoons baking soda
1 pound butter, melted
3 pounds peanut butter
1 pound chocolate chips
1 pound M&Ms
18 cups oatmeal
Mix the eggs, sugars, vanilla, corn syrup, baking soda, peanut butter, and butter with a mixer. Dump into a BIG pan (I use our giant roasting pan) and add chocolate chips, M&Ms, and oatmeal by hand. (This is where you take turns mixing!)
Use a 1/4 cup scoop to form cookies, and then bake on greased or nonstick cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Don’t overbake!
